In short, Anycast is a network of addressing and routing where a single destination address has multiple routes to the destination.
Anycast is mainly used for heavy traffic and protection against DDoS attacks. The attack is spread between several data centers to take mitigate the traffic and in that way it manages to handle the attack.

We use Anycast from Cloudflare on our name servers. This is to protect our customers DNS zones, as well as provide faster DNS lookups around the world.
