This guide will demonstrate how to change which folder the addon domain points to, and how addon domain is set up from the beginning after you have placed the order. The guide assumes you have ordered an addon domain ("How to order a addon domain") and you have logged into cPanel for the account.
All addon domains are setup on a subdomain. For example if you wish to order myaddondomain.net as addon domain, and maindomain.net is the maindomain on the hosting, myaddondomain-net.maindomain.net be the subdomain the addon domain is placed on and points to the folder myaddondomain-net.maindomain.net in the root of the hosting account. If you wish that the addon domain displays the same content as the main domain you will need to change so the subdomain points to public_html. The subdomain can point to any folder instead as well obviously.
Step 1
Click the icon for "Subdomains" as shown on the picture below.
Step 2
In the overview for subdomains under "Change a subdomain" we will see a list of all the subdomains created.
To change which content the addon domain displays you will need to change the folder the subdomain points to.
Step 3
Change document root to public_html.
Done
We have now been through how to change the folder the addon domain points to and how addon domain is set up from the beginning after you have placed the order.
