This guide shows how to import emails contacts and calendars from a .pst file in Outlook.

When should I import from a .pst file into Outlook?

• If you want to copy emails from one email address to another, i.e. john@exampledomain.org to john@differentdomain.org.
• If you want to reinstall Outlook and reload the emails from backup.
• If you want to move your emails from one supplier to another.

In this guide we have created the new email address "john.doe@exampledomain.org" and are going to import emails from the .pst backup file of "john@exampledomain.org" (backup.pst).
The guide assumes that Outlook is open on your PC/Mac.

Step 1:
Click "File" on the ribbon-bar at the top of your Outlook window, as shown below:

Step 2:

1. Click "Open & Export" in the menu to the left.
2. Click "Import/Export".

Step 3:

1. Choose "Import from another program or file".
2. Click "Next".

Step 4:

1. Choose "Outlook Data File (.pst)".
2. Click "Next".

Step 5:

1. Click "Browse..." and find the .pst file you want to import.
2. Click "Next".

Step 6:
We will be using the standard setup from Outlook as shown below.

1. If you have multiple email accounts set up in your outlook, it is important to choose which account you want to import the contents of the .pst file to.
2. Click "Finish". The import from the .pst file will now begin. The import will be done when the the progress message box disappears.
