EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH OUR SERVICES? RUN A DIAGNOSE FIRST TO SAVE YOURS AND OUR TIME

Added: 10.03.2014 23:26:29     Last updated: 27.05.2019 15:42:33

We recommend installing Drupal automatically from our dashboard. Follow the guide here.

This guide explains how to install Drupal manually in our web hosting solutions. Please notice that you can also install Drupal through Softaculous, which you will find via cPanel.

When ordering, you received an email containing the details of the web hosting instance you created with us. In the frame below, you will see the relevant web hosting information we are using for the purpose of this example, as well as other relevant information:

Domain:dittdomene.net
User name:dittdome

Drupal version:7

Database name:dittdome_db
Database user:dittdome_bruker

Step 1 - Download Drupal:
Go to the Drupal website at http://drupal.org/ and download the latest available stable version of the Drupal project.

Step 2 - Unzip the archive:
The file that you downloaded is an archive that contains the entire Drupal installation. Unzip this locally on the machine you are using.

Step 3 - Create the database:
In order to use Drupal, you need a database. Follow the guide: Creation of MySQL database in cPanel in order to create the database with its associated database user. During the creation we refer to "magento" as the database name and "bruker1" as the database user in this guide. This gives a database name and a database user name as mentioned at the top of this guide (all database names and database user names will have the web hosting user name as a prefix).

Step 4 - Upload Drupal to the web hosting instance:
Drupal can be uploaded in several different ways. This guide employs the simplest method - via FTP. If you are unsure of how to set up an FTP client, you should visit the guide for this in the guide section of our website.

In our example, we will be installing Drupal on the address: http://dittdomene.no/. When logging in via FTP, you will go to the public_html folder. Files placed in the public_html folder will be made available on the address http://dittdomene.no/. If you cannot find the public_html folder, most likely you have specified for your FTP client to start in this folder.

Upload all of the files and folders from the drupal-x.x folder on your local machine to the web hosting instance. Beware that it may take some time, as a lot of files need to be uploaded.

Step 5 - Browser installation:
Visit the http://dittdomene.net/ address in your web browser. Automatically, you will be shown the first installation page.

Select an installation profile

  1. Select "Standard" for the standard installation of Drupal.
  2. Click the "Save and continue" button in order to proceed.
